If you chose a system that allows you to refill your electronic cigarette cartridges or cartomizers, you’ll be opening yourself up to a wide range of flavours, manufacturers and online shops offering different mixes of e-juice. This is normally an easy process, if you do it right. There are a few things to keep in mind when it’s time to fill up.
Yes, you should read the instructions. Or at the very least, watch a video demonstration for a product that is either your brand or a system very similar. This is the easiest and most painless way to get to know what to do and what not to do with your system. Videos and tips from user forums are a great way to understand the instructions you read from the manufacturer. We’ve all assembled enough Ikea furniture to know that even pictures can be misleading.
Do not overfill your cartridge or cartomizer. This is easier to do than you think. When you fill the cartridge or atomizer, be sure to wet the material inside with enough fluid to look like a Slushy or Slurpee, not a pool or lake. Too much fluid means it could leak out through the mouthpiece or worse, damage your battery. Obviously, no one wants a mouth full of nicotine fluid. Aside from tasting bad, it’s extremely dangerous. You risk nicotine poisoning. Getting fluid on the battery could damage it so it dies, or simply never powers off. One of these scenarios is dangerous, the other is annoying.
Do not add fluid into the hole in the mouthpiece. Instead, most cartridges and cartomizers fill by having fluid dripped down the inside of the tube. That is why your bottle of e-juice seems to have a nozzle designed to let out fluid by the drop. Drip it down the side, and rotate the tube every few drops so you can apply the fluid evenly. Some very experienced e-cig users will use a syringe to fill the cartridge so it can be filled more quickly from the bottom up. It is a bit specialized, and not necessary.
So long as you take your time. Do not rush the process. It will take a few minutes if you don’t use the syringe. You’ll want to take it slowly so that you can ensure the fluid reaches the bottom of the material and is absorbed uniformly. If you’re trying to go too fast, you’ll end up with a pool at the top and you’ll have to wait a few minutes to use the cartridge anyway. So, just go slow and easy if you’re using the bottle of e-juice instead of a syringe so you can get the maximum amount of fluid into the cartridge or cartomizer without risking leaks.
Once you get to know your own system, refilling your cartridge or cartomizer should be a breeze. Follow a few quick steps and you should get more life out of each of the components in your e-cig system.
